A voice of the forgotten regular people who've  been  kicked around by life.

Whether songs of society ,struggle, love ,honky tonkin',hard luck ,satire or rebellion

He’s a poet & a man with a message

He overcame death more than once –being told he’d never play music or walk again - even collapsing and dying right on stage only to rise up and survive. He has a perspective other songwriters don’t have,follows no one & goes where the winds takes him.

His raw folk  album Acoustic Rumble was named "#1 album of the year  -LA Times & NY Village Voice pazz & jopp

and #10 best of the decade" ,including the song 'Poem to my country'  named #25 'best song of the decade' in the LA Times

Michael who resides in Southern CA at the moment recorded his upcoming new album in Nashville TN  where he does shows three times a year resides part of the year and  has built great followings in both Nashville &California.

The prolific songwriter also recorded his recent EP 'Storms of Trouble' released as a limited edition on red vinyl with his band The Lonesome Playboys which  also was recorded in Nashville-

His previous album Rabbit Foot Carnival  is a raw collection of original  songs recorded with his band live in the studio to tape -An album of driving Honky Tonk & rootsy Rock n roll mixed with Rhythm and Blues ,Gospel, & Country Americana  - and follow up to his acclaimed recent  solo acoustic Folk albums ‘Music Notes From The Underground' & 'Song Of Our Time'  as well as the re-issue of the Indie folk & acoustic  country classic the aforementioned 'Acoustic Rumble'.

 

His songs are covered by other artists and he has collaborated with legend Brian Setzer of the Stray Cats on Michael's  'Empty Bottles Broken guitar strings album' with dueling guitars on the song 'Dont say goodbye' 

 

As Michael states his  songs "hold up a mirror to society" - He wont be pigeonholed and in spite of some of his poetic lyrics says -  "I could care less bout  categorization". He also created the successful

'Outlaws Of Folk Music Series' an ongoing live showcase in Southern CA going  strong for over a decade where he and touring artist perform each month.

 

He has toured & done shows with Dwight Yokam, Judy Collins,The Cramps,Don Mclean,The Kingston trio,Lucinda Williams, Jerry Lee lewis ,The Stray Cats ,The Blasters &Leon Russell showcasing his vast diverse appeal in different genres.

He plays  at The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville twice a year  -his favorite showcase venue when on tour . and been compared by music journalists to songwriting legend's -Hank Williams Sr. early Bob Dylan,Townes Van Zandt  ,Gram Parsons & Willie Dixon- not sounding like them -but as link in the chain of great American songwriting.

 

He also host his own Radio show

'Outlaws Of Folk Music Radio'  on KXFM104.7 playing rare 78 shellac and vinyl  records from 1920s to present-with the stories behind them -also performing and  w/cool interviews.  A unique show like no other​
